Here's a fact: If you had chickenpox as a child, you can get shingles as an adult.
That's because the virus that caused your chickenpox — varicella-zoster— never left. It's been lying dormant, asleep in your nerve cells. If it reactivates, it can make you sick again — and give you a painful rash.
