Tip Tuesday: National Employee Benefits Day is coming up!

Are you prepared for April 4, 2011 - National Employee Benefits Day? The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) encourages employers to use the day to:
  • Evaluate the communication efforts within the company by recognizing the ways they have succeeded and determine where they can improve.
  • Educate the employees of the valuable benefits that are offered at the company.
  • Recognize the hard work and dedication of the individuals who help provide quality employee benefits.
National Employee Benefits Day is coming up quick, but there is still time to take advantage of this day and the IFEBP has provided plenty of ideas to help you:
  • Hosting a lunch-and-learn program led by your Benefits Team
  • Sending out all-staff emails or paycheck stuffers that communicate your benefits program
  • Bringing in a guest speaker to talk on a specific aspect of your plans' health care offerings
  • Hosting fun games or quizzes on the benefits you offer
  • Surveying your staff about the benefits you currently offer or benefits you're thinking about offering in the future.
  • Consider celebrating the day by adding a new benefit to your package. There are many benefits that can be offered for little to no cost while adding value to your program such as:
    • Walking programs
    • Arranging for employee discounts at local gyms and fitness centers
    • Casual-dress Fridays
    • Arranging for an on-site nutrition/weight-loss program
    • Time off for volunteer work
We hope you have a successful Employee Benefits Day!

Tip Tuesday: 15% Discount on TurboTax for UnitedHealthcare Members

With only 49 days* left to file your 2010 tax returns with the IRS, now is the time to start getting organized. Good news for UnitedHealthcare members: UHC has partnered with Intuit, creator of TurboTax, and is offering you a 15 percent discount on TurboTax for your 2010 tax filing. For more information about this awesome discount, click here.

*Note: Taxpayers will have until Monday, April 18 to file their 2010 tax returns and pay any tax due because Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia, falls this year on Friday, April 15. By law, District of Columbia holidays impact tax deadlines in the same way that federal holidays do; therefore, all taxpayers will have three extra days to file this year. Taxpayers requesting an extension will have until Oct. 17 to file their 2010 tax returns.

Until Next Week,
M.J.
